Ceramics

Ceramics Persike Benefit SolutionsEd Persike has been involved with Ceramics since 1965. He has a degree in art from San Jose State University. His studio is at home where he and I work. As the spokesdog, I am I the guiding light and inspiration in terms of what is going to be created. I especially like the weekend, when I get to work for almost the whole day in the studio with Ed. Not only do I get to hear his old fashion bluegrass music, but often I get snacks (which are great).

All of the pottery is fired at Cone 6 at approx. 2200 Degrees F, the work is usually referred to as “stoneware”. Ed makes his own glazes. He does not use any lead, so the glaze is not the “gift that keeps on giving”.

Most of the pottery is used in everyday life, bowls, cups, and large vessels are favorites. He also makes pots with little creatures and animals, birds and fish on them. Ed has been publicly recognize for his efforts. He has a section in the college text book, “Hands in Clay” by Spiector and Toki. There, he demonstrates how to build large pots. One of his award winning pots is also shown in the book.

You can see and purchase Ed’s pottery by calling him at the office (209) 576-6791 to set an appointment at his studio. He is always very generous if you are looking for a not for profit donation. By the way, he makes great custom dog and cat food and water bowls. All of my friend have them and they just love them.

Ed’s pottery is beautiful, but I have got to tell you that I just love my dog bowl. It is just perfect for me. The reports from all of my friends are similar. They are designed and engineered for the needs of pets. If you will scroll down, you can see some of the work that Ed makes. As an aside, you have got to recognize that it is very hard to train humans, so I hope that you will appreciate the pictures.
